You can learn something from everyone!
I can honestly say that teaching has accelerated my learning! I’m supposed to be logging my CPD hours for my IMDT membership renewal but I came across this meme on social media. It really resonated with me and inspired me to write this blog. I often question my qualifications to teach other people: How much do I really know? Can I add anything useful? There are many more people who know so much more than I do. The simple truth is that I can and do learn something from each and every one of my students, canine and human. Sometimes I look back and think I could have done something better. Sometimes I look back and feel proud that I have made a small difference to someone and their relationship with their dog.
The challenges my clients face, present me with the opportunity to think about how we can improve a situation. Every single problem has a unique set of circumstances to consider: genetics, learning history (dog and owners), medical considerations, home environment, resilience, commitment, finances… the list goes on.
Minoru Mochizuki was a Master of Martial Arts and that is pretty much all I know about him (Google helped me out with that one), I’m sure he said many wise and wonderful things but if this was the only one, today it has made a difference to me as I go back to logging my CPD and look forward to continuing my education.
Romsey Dog Trainer is taking a short break from classes over Christmas but I am still available for one to one consultations and I will be back in the New Year with a new program of puppy classes and fun obedience classes… Watch this space for more info.
